CNSOER Rebrand

The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) is the joint federal-provincial regulatory body responsible for overseeing offshore oil, gas, and renewable energy activities in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area. CNSOER ensures that all offshore energy projects are carried out safely, responsibly, and in a manner that protects the environment, workers, and the public. Their work includes regulating exploration, development, and production activities, as well as ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.

The Challenge

As CNSOER transitioned from the former Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board, the organization needed a refreshed brand to reflect its expanded mandate. The rebrand was not just about updating a name, it was about positioning the organization as a modern, transparent, and trusted regulator for both offshore petroleum and emerging renewable energy sectors.

The visual identity and brand messaging needed to support that shift, build public trust, and speak clearly to a range of audiences including industry, environmental groups, government, and the general public.

Our Approach

New Brooklyn Media worked closely with CNSOER to develop a full brand suite that would support their evolving role. We started with stakeholder conversations to understand their goals, values, and audience expectations. Our focus was on creating a visual identity that was clear, modern, and built to last, while also being adaptable across all internal and public-facing materials.

The Solution

We delivered a comprehensive branding package that included:
• A new logo and visual identity system
• Full brand guidelines (color palette, typography, usage guidance)
• Editable templates for internal and external communications
• Business card, letterhead, and report templates
• PowerPoint and MS Teams virtual background assets

The new identity reflects CNSOER’s geographic and regulatory scope with a clean, confident look that can be applied consistently across all channels and use cases.

Results and Impact

CNSOER now has a strong, modern brand that communicates professionalism, responsibility, and progress. The refreshed identity helps the organization show up with clarity and consistency, whether engaging with industry partners or the public.

This rebrand supports CNSOER’s long-term goals of transparency, safety, and environmental leadership in Canada’s offshore energy space. It also reflects New Brooklyn Media’s ability to help public organizations navigate change with confidence and creativity.
